Haven't done any comparisons against TokuDB, so can't give a deep answer there. [Edit: removed incorrect bit about tuning algorithm]. We do not offer tuning yet, but this is the initial implementation, so we'll definitely be

For choosing the column, you'll usually want to think about what your queries will be using. It sounds like `recorded_at` is probably more likely to be useful since that's when the data "occurred," but again it depends o

You definitely can mix the two, and we actually find it a very useful thing so you can have your metadata available to query alongside the time series data. TimescaleDB will only make a table a hypertable if you tell it too, otherwise regul

We're happy to take pull requests for new databases, we have so far from Clickhouse, CrateDB, and SiriDB (and one pending). We've tried to make it relatively easy for new databases to hook in. We usually implement ones that we hea

That seems unlikely. The first graph[1] on this Wiki[2] article shows from 1982 until 2017 -- so not the exact range you mentioned -- but it shows that mass shooting deaths are higher today than decades ago. [1] https://en.wikipe

2017 had 1,205,835 thousand Megawatts of coal, so 2018 was a decrease of ~60,000. Not an increase of 20k.

We did benchmarks a while back comparing TimescaleDB to Mongo[1], and TimescaleDB was quite a bit better. So I think you'd definitely see much improved query time. Also it appears that Metabase supports a PostgreSQL connection[2], so y

We haven't really found it to be the case that the system is slower with ZFS. As the sibling mentions, you are trading some CPU for better I/O. We usually see better insert performance and similar/better query latency.

We are actually doing a fair bit to address larger use cases. We also had customers who are doing 100s of billions of points successfully, so I guess it depends on what you mean by larger. As our CEO mentioned in a sibling, we are working o
