Most likely it’s not NFC but a lower-frequency RFID (which as a side-effect gives it better range). You could use something like Proxmark3 (it’s an SDR and can speak many RFID standards in addition to NFC).

Depending on the recipient's fraud checks you can simply use your credit card but use a fake name & address; if they don't decline the transaction then that's all you have to do.

This still means any open file handles would need to be closed and buffers flushed, right? That’s still a problem.

How anonymous do you want to be? Are you trying to hide from the recipient only, or also from their payment processors, or the government? Each of these requirements has different solutions.

The issue with gaming is that the community as a whole is toxic, probably due to the lowered barrier to entry (a redux of the “eternal September”) which means that immature kids can now join games and swear all day on the mic. I remember ba

If you had a Chase card they could use some proprietary way of saving the language, but for other banks there's no standard way of saving the language (on the card for example), so the only solution is for the ATMs to maintain an onlin

Password fatigue is easily mitigated by password managers. The issue is that users are too stupid and don't care to spend the time/money to do things the right way, and instead keep on reusing the same password everywhere.

Contracting is a good option for this. You move around every 6 months or so which means you don't really spend enough time to get burned out by any single project.

The only way for this to work would be for Microsoft to provide the hardware to begin with. As it stands, all the "security" technologies are still under the control of the user, which means the only barrier is the time it takes t

Great post, but I'm not sure running a monkey-patched libc is a "small" sacrifice. I would be concerned this leads to very obscure behaviour down the line, especially when your main purpose is to be a REPL and run the code c
