I'm glad there are people who want to program. I have no interest in or patience for it, and there's no way I could stick with it long enough to make the tools I use for the things I'm interested in and have patience for. Eve

There's a reason anecdotes are useless in these kinds of discussions. Your family probably benefited from network effects: one person gets a job, then provides industry contacts and references to the next, and so on. Your family's

Even regions that seem homogeneous from the outside are highly varied, like the deep south. Travel the interstates and highways in Georgia, and you'll mostly find the same kinds of things and people who, at worst, silently judge you. G

I plan to switch to Ableton once I earn enough from music to pay for it, but that's because it's made for the kind of music I do. Everyone I know uses it, so it's easy to find advice and tutorials. For now, Reaper and a few f

Nope. I have a MIDI keyboard, but it doesn't work half the time, so I rarely bother with it. You can do everything inside the DAW with the MIDI roll or notation editor.

I do electronic music. The rise of platforms like Bandcamp and Patreon, and the abundance of high quality free/inexpensive tools and guides is raising the bar for quality in independent music, and making it easier for more people to ge

I think it supports all the big video hosts. There's a box to paste a video URL, and it's labeled "Embed support for YouTube, Vimeo, and more."

Patreon doesn't support video uploads, at least as an embed. You can embed them from other sites and (I think) attach them to posts as downloads, but that's it.

I barely use extensions these days. Most of what I want is built in to all the browsers now. All that's left, more or less, is some way to save articles for later and make the few I want to read now easier to follow. Firefox has a read

What's wrong with Medium? I used to run my own blog software. I don't recommend it unless you really need to micromanage the implementation. Most people do not. This is why I let Medium handle all the intricacies of publishing my

Expanding business without an actual person doing it (inbound marketing) is cheap, but very slow going. Twitter probably has people making deals, helping bigger accounts work on their presence, and things like that.
