The point kinda was to optimize for security over scalability. It wasn't the goal. Go make a messaging system on TOR if you want a less secure more scalable tradeoff point.

Bitmessage is a wonderful example of turning the scalability vs privacy dial all the way to the right. The primitives are all due an update. Proof of Work sucks. But otherwise, all-to-all epidemic broadcast is the path to minimal message me

In plain English: There exists a dosage that causes problems, we don't know what it is. If this trend continues, we will most likely find out what it is the painful way.

Eventually, automation leads to labor surplus when the value of human labor is lower than the cost of human living. This problem will be resolved, by our action or inaction as a society. We just need to decide the corpse/profit ratio w

I'm keeping this link, taking a backup and handing it out whenever i can. It is succinct and effective. These are concepts i find myself constantly having to explain and teach and they are critical to problem solving.

Hanlon's razor applies well to situations where social power is relatively even. Once power is sufficiently uneven, the stupidity of the powerful is no different than their malice, for with that power comes the greater responsibility t

well, extract a good metric for "fun" (like engagement) and make that the optimization criteria. It would be equally as easy.

Missing the OG: NERO https://nn.cs.utexas.edu/nero/about.php NEAT is really well suited to modeling behaviors in a less structured way and gets used to play videogames.

We call it a "numbers station" right now. Honestly LLMs might make for an interesting means of stenography. Encoding encrypted data in vectors that can be rendered to coherent statements and back.

whatever you are using to activate that mechanism, should just be your click button. I could see a "sliding vs static friction" trick for a passive mechanism, but anything that worked would so wear out very quickly.

There are tables at the end describing the algorithms key sizes. be mindful of "(Size in bytes)" not bits. They cover that these algorithms use bigger keys, but it is 4 kilobytes.

We can go even shorter: Be mindful that behaviors that once were useful may cease to be so and you should update them.

I think you are missing the root idea here: - you write "auto" as the type. - You run a script that updates your code and replaces "auto" with the appropriate type for you to review and keep in the code.
