Thank you for the reply! It's great to see devs interacting on HN. I've written thousands of lines of Ansible playbooks, and I'm a huge fan. I see others on my team struggling with these very basic on-boarding issues, that I

Ansible is great, but could really have a better first time experience. The system itself is incredibly simple, but the docs and instructions are anything but, and seem to be modeled after Chef and Puppets which are frankly terrible. Inste

Nitpick, but the "GET /people/{id}/exists" in the example to check if the instance exists is a bit weird, would suggest "HEAD /people/{id}" for this type of operation.

The extreme download vs upload traffic asymmetry between Comcast and L3/Netflix has been mentioned several times as a straw man argument for why Comcast is justified in charging Netflix directly. Maybe Netflix could find some creative

I agree fully, it's a huge productivity win. I built a small layer that simulates or at least stubs out all the device-only APIs for the desktop target; switching resolutions & DPI dependent assets (works), loading translated strin

LibGDX is a lot of fun to work with, and a great way to target both Android and iOS with the same code base. What you might not have thought of, is that you don't have to limit yourself to games. I created a successful productivity app

I used Norvig's frequency counts as input for the board generation algorithms (in Scala) for my Android word game "5 Star Words" [1]. With this as the start plus a few other tricks, I'm typically able to reach an average

IntelliJ or the upcoming Android Studio (based on IntelliJ), which will eventually replace Eclipse as the recommended IDE, makes Android development much more pleasant. Give it a try.

It seems fairly limited right now, and doesn't do much to alleviate the pain of supporting many different push notification services. You still have to code the client side pieces for each platform separately instead of providing a uni

How does the anonymous gathering of statistics harm you? As an app developer, this data allows me to measurably improve my apps. I have several free (no ads either) apps in the Android market, and even in the most trivial of apps I will inc
