What's the store's purpose then if you have to go online while being physically present to get more product info? Was there no knowledgeable staff? No product flyers/labels?

They can print A/B versions of flyers and collect them upon entry. No QR needed for this kind of measuring. :)

You're just redefining the meaning of trolling. It's nothing else than being a prick, hidden behind an online pseudonym. It's not some secret handshake, nor a well meaning fun poking.

Hey Shawn, that's interesting. I was just thinking about a similar solution with a JS widget we're creating for our users to embed on their websites. I have an improvement suggestion. If the client supplies their own condition, like in your

I like the metaphors in your comment but cannot imagine anything specific. What do you mean with the layers that support each other?

That's pretty much how it works in Central Europe, with the difference that 10% and more goes for great service.

I came here with that question in mind. What's the difference to the already battle-tested TortoiseGit? GitHub for Win obviously works with other hosting services, that's fine, but is it better?

Sir, you have hit the nail on the head. It was the work of the disgruntled speaker whose talk was refused in a normal editorial process and who proceeded to hire a PR firm to create this ruckus. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3988515

That's not evil, quite the opposite - you don't bother the user and ask them for the required information until the very moment it's needed. It's called gradual engagement and I consider it good practice. What's structurally similar to th

No, quite the opposite. The more people value their privacy, the more pressure against invasive predatory practices and the better for all of us. It's not a binary scale: Privacy or no progress. Services we use can respect our privacy, can

I'm absolutely shocked that someone can defend this code example. OK, you say it's readable for an experienced C programmer which I'm not. But is that really the best practice you want to teach other programmers? Fourfold inline computation

As suggested elsewhere, read The Algorithm Design Manual, it's much more readable (even if not as rigorous, with math proofs and such).

Having read both I have to respectfully but firmly disagree. The code examples in The Practice of Programming are atrocious, and I mean it - they are full of really, really bad naming and arcane abbreviations and thus unreadable code. How i
