You're counting the wrong thing. They're not talking about the number of kart racers out there, they are talking about the number of people who play better kart racers. Like the reason "the year of the Linux Desktop" has

Commit messages are great for explaining the order in which things happened and talking about changes that apply to disparate pieces of code. I would still argue that comments should explain why code has changed over time -- comments should

A comment in the code can do both, and it should. You should explain why your code is the way it is, not just what it does. Anybody can see what code does by just reading the code.

Most engineering is based on mathematics because proofs are a powerful support for any idea you plan to implement. It's one thing to throw something together and have it work, and a totally different thing to prove it is optimal in som

There's also the fact that there's no known upper limit on the complexity/time needed to solve an arbitrary problem. Just because you can create an AGI doesn't mean nearly impossible problems suddenly become tractable. H

I don't think people would be complaining nearly as much if they simply added the touchbar above the existing keys rather than replacing them. Or left the esc and power keys while putting the touchbar in between them. Lots of things th

Keyword arguments also encourage overly general functions that try to do everything, and there's a performance cost to that (such functions tend to include a mini arg parser and dispatch mechanism), and it's a wash on documentatio

Undefined behavior allows a compiler to make assumptions that some things never happen, which can allow them to generate more efficient code by not having to generate code that checks if those assumptions are correct. If you're going

Most of these things are very hard to analyze. Let me give you a real-life example. This winter, my driveway developed some major cracks from the snow melt. How can I solve this problem responsibly? Not fix it? Then I have to park on the st

The return type has to be dependent on the value of the input, not its type . Like it'll return an int[3] if you provide 3 as in input and int[4] if you provide 4. Note that both 3 and 4 should have the same type, but int[3] and int
