Back in 2013, when BBC still was airing Top Gear with Hammond, May & Clarkson, and things like Bake Off. Recent seasons of Dr Who were made with Disney+. They have killed a 60 year old franchise.

Feel this is a disingenuous question, as British TV will do just fine on streaming giants. Just the BBC cannot and will not make them, and struggling to survive. Mobland on Paramount+ Grand Tour on Amazon Clarkson's Farm on Amazon

There is a certain amount of irony when the cookie policy agreement is buggy on a story about complicated & complex systems. Clicking on "Only Necessary" causes the cookie policy agreement to reappear.

As a dev from the early 90s, I share the sentiment. Watching javascript become more and more complex and bloated for little to no benefit to the end user.

I have, atleast to confirm it does what it says on the tin. Idea for an offline first app, where each app install call pull a changeset and apply it to their local db.

SQLite has an session extension, which will track changes to a set of tables and produce a changeset/patchset which can patch previous version of an SQLite database. https://www.sqlite.org/sessionintro.html

It's not a solved problem for people that aren't technically capable, and do not have internet access. It's why Kiwix was developed, so people don't have to run a full web stack (which requires a rdbms) for wikipedia. I

Your analogy with books doesn't really work. As a book is only usable by one individual at a time. Whereas a digital book can be shared.

I don't think determining factor is price, it is how easy or hands off the appliance can be. Every postgres search implementation has atleast one internet connected postgres nerd on standby.

MySQL X protocol solves some of these * Notifies a client when a session variable has changed. Though I haven't used it so possibly not implemented. https://github.com/mysql/mysql-server/blob/trunk/p

Think most people had no idea how it worked, it was magic to them. iCloud hacks (like in 2014) have raised awareness for the need for E2EE.

Or-ing 1 onto codepoint before calling leading_zeroes() should get a decent compiler to remove the branch.

Don't believe it needs a simcard for UHF/VHF. Even without a simcard, emergency numbers should still work if in range of a cell tower. IIRC that's a requirement of all 4g devices.

LTE over satellite is going to be the solution, as all existing 4g phones can do it.

No where in the article does it say allergens were added. If they were then the labelling could not possibly "misbranded".

Cache-Control: immutable will prevent roundtrips in atleast Firefox. This does mean that the path should be unique per version of the content. Like inserting a cryptographic hash in the path.
