Agreed. As a one time hardcore C developer who went soft and has used Java for well over a decade, I'm struggling with the borrow checker. I was hoping that Rust would allow me to switch back to developing native apps without the memo

I agree, but the point I was trying to make (perhaps unclearly), was that the username can be checked against a list of blocked patterns at account creation time.

There can always be some checking that happens as part of creating a new account. Remember that to be effective, the follower needs to be able to find the new account when the old one is closed. They will do this by searching for an obviou

Not as tenacious as the bod who is now manually creating @TurMedia336 to @TurMedia99999999. But, one might have thought that Titter would have blocked creation of these accounts already.

So if the way the receiver gets hold of your public key is by a link in the signed email, what's to stop an attacker changing the link to a fake key and re-signing the email? Hmm. Why don't we have a standard place on our domains

Potentially dumb question from a backend dev: Is there a way to get stats about page loading from Timeline, that could be used to automatically ensure that the load times are not creeping up, and breaking NFRs?

I think this is a matter of value. If someone puts work into an article, then it must be disappointing to find credit being given to a pile of dross attached to the bottom, by people who can't be bothered to think before they type. I

True - none of our politicians are going to take on the gorilla. It would only hurt them and us. So if it wants the gorilla gets to set the rules for everyone else - vote or no vote. That's democracy - the biggest democracy wins.

Hmm - the Java attack seems to assume that a JMX server has not been configured to authenticate requests, can be connected to using RMI and has no class loader security manager. I'm not sure this is really a problem with the Java langu
