I think that is actually the point of the article. Not that the concept of connecting with people online will fail but that stand alone, don't do anything for you BUT connect you to people social networks will.

I really hate building interfaces for the web and would love to build them with tools like interface builder but I just haven't felt any need to build a desktop app. Its really exciting that you can now use desktop level dev tools for a mob

Yes and with the native Salesforce.com app they are really moving to take on RIM. The SDK is actually much more impressive than I expected. I didn't expect game support like that.

I tried to pass the codeProc.call in the block but it wouldn't process the data until I passed the codeProc as a parameter. I don't really understand why to be honest.

But if the headline, description, and picture were enough to get you to read the link then it should get a bump. Most people go read the story and never come back, even if they liked it, to up vote. I do that all the time here.

My site klipboardz.com ups the vote on each story for any registered user that reads it, then a user can down vote it if they didn't like it. I assume that if you care enough to read a link then it should get an up-vote.

I think this is a really smart move. This could make Yahoo search something more enjoyable to use than Google. I personally like the added 'widgets; of Ask search but their results aren't as good. I think Yahoo is much closer in quality to

Very nice guys! Scribd is my favorite company to come out of yCombinator. I think you guys have really done some great stuff, and you use Rails, which just makes it better!
