I am completely in love with the fact that this thing provides a GPIO breakout (and Arduino compatible, no less!). That immediately takes this product from a "neat, but I don't think I have a use for it" to a "holy crap,

ZenoArrow is talking about embedded SoCs though. While Kabini is a SoC, it isn't really suited for embedded applications. These chips usually have a ton of GPIO, built-in support for different communication protocols, analog to digital conv

Red meat is definitely correlated with shorter lifespans, see e.g. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2803089/ . Causes appear to include increased risk of certain types of cancer and cardiovascular disease. The causal links are o

"women" is a substitute for "pussy" which means people you want to have sex with. Right. Pussy as shorthand for sex is problematic because it reduces a woman to her sexual organs, it objectifies them. Would you enjoy being reduced to your

There is no way to make that assumption irrelevant. In absolutely no way is programming a perfect meritocracy, and social factors come into play just as much as any field. If the pervading attitude is "men are inherently better at this task

What are the barriers exactly? The pervading attitude of The heavy use of logic is a masculine trait is a rather good example of at least one barrier. Do you not see how that statement is extremely problematic?

More powerful in what way? I don't think there are any PICs with integrated PLD blocks, or GPIOs that are routable to any peripheral. "Best" may be a silly term for it, but that's definitely really useful to have in a development board.

I'm guessing has to do with the laser. From their FAQ: "Unfortunately, it is not safe to run the laser without the enclosure." Presumably it's powerful enough to fall under differing regulation in each country.

The scale problem still remains. Going from 10 users of your webapp to 1000 does not take much in terms of technology and capital investment. Going from 10 hand-assembled bits of hardware to 1000 units manufactured in China is a difficult a
