The issue is that they just started forcing sign-ins on Old Reddit, allegedly because it's easier for bots to scrape. The ability to casually/anonymously peek at a post that answers your question is getting more rare.

That "In case you're not aware, there's COVID-19 happening" banner isn't nearly tall nor yellow enough. Given a 6-inch-tall screen, the proper layout would be: +-----------------+ |2" of vestigial |

It seems to come up every time this complaint arises. "I want to use an open source project without being associated with furries" isn't that unreasonable of a request.

I wish they'd ease up on the whole "don't change the logo without paying us" thing. The furry anime character is a turnoff for anyone with a brand or personal image that doesn't mesh with those subcultures.

The last time I tried to use one in a comment, it got stripped out. I guess that doesn't apply to submission titles.

No, they moved that to a subscription model. It costs more in the long run, but you immediately gain access to all the latest dwarf planets as they are discovered.

Conversely, I want those old candy Aqua buttons back. They were kitschy, but I loved them. I'd say the same for the scrollbars, but these days I'd settle for reverting to them being visible at all times.

Fair. NPM is the part I actually distrust. That said, I'm not sure it's necessary to make a distinction. I can't imagine many teams are using NodeJS (particularly with React or the like) without buying into the package ecosys

Or at least the culture around JavaScript . I love writing JavaScript. I like React well enough. I'm not sold on NodeJS, though I'll accept that its struggles are no different than any other package manager. I just wish the whole

Oh yeah. Once or twice a year I have to install Adobe Reader to handle some weird edge case around printing, DRM, or the like. I usually uninstall it right afterward. But for general document reading, Reader's UI has been awful for yea

It's odd and I'm not sure I love it compared to a nicely-done dedicated viewer (macOS Preview, SumatraPDF, whatever comes with GNOME or KDE). That said, I'll pick the in-browser tools over Adobe Reader every time.

I dropped Twitter for Lent this year, just in time for the fighting to pick up. Being stuck with slow, oversimplified (and likely propagandistic) news coverage instead of the usual OSINT accounts, (likely fake) firsthand reports, and bad-bu

As an American, I'm mildly jealous of the Brits' usage of "bin" for garbage cans. It's so succinct as to be appropriately dismissive, while we seemingly sanctify the idea with complex terms like "Wastebasket,&q

The crappy forums don't have to let anyone register without a vouching process if they don't want to. They also don't accidentally end up on the Reddit Front Page and get swarmed by a mob of overly-enthusiastic or angry stran
