You are oversimplifying this whole debate. It's not just a couple of "rude dogs," and if I supplied you with several stories of discrimination against women by VCs, etc would you still say it's just a couple of rude dogs? How many would

You answered accurately but choose to answer only one part. And to that I still say " that's interesting." "Have you stopped to consider it may be way more than a few in this instance?" Key words there in this instance . I asked you to con

Thanks but I was truly interested in finding out where OP got these stats from, meaning did he also do a quick google search or does he just know these things. I mentioned methodology in my post because that (to me) is the most important pa

Calling me a moron and you get upvoted...I thought HN was better than this. Re-read my post and think about it and perhaps you will understand what my point was.

"Oh please. Occasionally running into a rude man? " The point was not there is an occasional rude man, the point is that there is a reoccurring theme of inappropriate discrimination based on gender. Of course there are going to be rude men.

I couldn't help but wonder while reading this comment--have you ever experienced any sort of discrimination or are you a member of any minority group (person of color, gay, non-christian, etc.)? "Life isn't fair and people with treat you un

I'm surprised there is no corresponding "Where the boys at?" or does that defeat the purpose? It would be easy enough to create the same site for girls to find boys. that can also be a problem at times...

It's one thing to voice this as an opinion but to say it's actually genetic, meaning a biological function of being a female human? No. There is absolutely no evidence to support that. Women were given the right to vote less than 100 year

Can somebody who is more versed in this board explain to me why a comment like this would be downvoted? I don't understand what is wrong with this type of comment. Additionally, the comment I made responding to it was downvoted. I'm honest

It is a very serious problem, but one that is difficult to solve. Especially when science and tech are male dominated fields. I think it begins with empowering the younger generation of women (think school aged K-6) and getting them inter

Civil Procedure FTW! Or the loss. I'm not surprised the judge allowed this, it is necessary to prove Sony was correct in filing in CA because the state has jurisdiction over GeoHot. I would be surprised if they granted personal jurisdicti

I second this. My MBP has been dropped more times than I can ever admit to the Genius Bar and it has kept on ticking. Every computer I've ever owned has been a mac and they all still work. Compare that to my fiance's 4 PCs that have all bro

That's actually not true, IP lawyers look at ALL patents when they're going after a patent troll or trying to invalidate, not just large companies. That would be pretty poor due diligence.

It's one thing to want to have a formal profile for when you're googled. It's another to have your buzz attached to it. They want buzz to catch on so badly.

I meant on the web, personal stories/advice/what-not-to-dos of entrepreneurs in the startup realm. I wasn't suggesting picking up a text book. My background isn't business per say, but I've learned a great deal by reading and researching.

Yeah the new entry level in law, government work and politics is "unpaid internship." I swear these people are taking huge advantage of the economy and the surplus of qualified workers.

Trolls often say things that people are too scared to say under a real name OR a well known user name. I never understood the problem with just ignoring trolls or laughing at them. I mostly laugh.
