Yeah it must be demoralizing to know the community is executing at a level they simply can't achieve. Maybe that calls into question the need for their existence or their mission. Maybe their rolen is to fail so laws can change.

A bare closure would always see the latest values because it closes over them during render. And the latest useEffect closure will have closed over that method.. Here is the test suite for useEffectEvent and the test ensuring it does not

From the linked article in this thread: > Here's the crux of the issue: useEffect is not a lifecycle hook. That doesn't leave much room for ambiguity; seems like a definitive statement. Many don't see any nuance here and t

There is a new experimental hook, useEffectEvent , whose only discernable functionality based on the documentation and information available is to quiet the linter. I'm not sure that's all it does since I haven't dug into th

This is underdiscussed IMHO. I refer to the render function calls as "the way down" and then after everything is mounted when React starts calling the useEffect callbacks "the way up". Many applications suffer from the w

I agree with everything your saying I just disagree with the communication; well and I believe the line I quoted to be utter bollocks. Dealt with projects that had evolved(devolved?) into hook monstrosities. 20-30 hooks in god components ea

That's bullshit; useEffect is a lifecycle hook. From the documentation for the useEffect SETUP parameter: > setup: The function with your Effect’s logic. Your setup function may also optionally return a cleanup function. When your c

The best way IMHO is to start simple and then add abstractions and interfaces over time. That will mean that, yes, when you come in to a project late there will be lots of those... There are other practical reasons for using interfaces othe
