I'm also curious about the choice of virtual currency. From perusing their FAQ, it seems like you can buy Honey with real money, but it doesn't look like you can get your money back out. Ick.

I've fallen in love with Knockout ( http://knockoutjs.com ) -- it's even simpler than this. Completely abstracts away events and updating the DOM. It even tracks all the dependancies for you.

I myself am developing a nonprofit startup. Right now it seems like the biggest hurdle will be all the paperwork and compliance work. It'd be awesome if somebody started some sort of umbrella organization to file the paperwork, deal with th

Very cool! Didn't know about this feature and I can't wait to try it out. Also, just so you know, you have a couple of mistakes in your markdown, namely that code spans only require one backtick on each side.

From a quick check of their homepage and blog, I found no mention of the issue. If they were indeed giving the users a "grace period," wouldn't they want to publicize that?

Is it GitHub's responsibility to protect their users from their own stupidity? I'd argue it's not, but the issue creates such bad PR that it'd be prudent for them to add some sort of check. However, it should probably be a bit more nuanced

Am I the only one who finds replace's syntax much nicer? I haven't spent much time learning unix utilities, so that might explain it. But I can't help but shudder at find . -type f ! -name ' .min.js' ! -name ' .py' -print0 | xargs -0 sed -r

I just read about Distributed Dance Party [1], a movement that uses an FM transmitters and a bunch of boomboxes to power outdoor parties. Seems like this would be perfect for parades or groups that need a cheap way to communicate with a lar

It seems we've established (very thoroughly) that Mega should not be trusted to keep our files secure. But that's not the point of their crypto; it's just an effort to ensure plausible deniability that happens to be a marketable feature. If

I have no idea why a simple blog post would take 20 seconds to load--long enough to have its own loading bar! Taking a quick look at the source, it looks like they're doing some sort of crypto. Very weird.

It'd make more sense to derive the key from the data. That way, if two files are duplicates, their encrypted versions will also be duplicates.

Sure! All our conceptions about it being a crazy, dysfunctional country were absolutely correct. But I also had the prejudice that its citizens would be cold, humorless people hostile to us Americans. Instead, I was greeted by warm, friendl

I too visited the DPRK recently. Did you go with Koryo? The weirdest thing was that our guide was very happy to discuss "taboo" questions. She asked us about our electoral system, and after we visited the DMZ inquired as to what our media s

My family and I went to North Korea purely for curiosity's sake. Although we didn't like the giving-money-to-a-terrible-dictatorship aspect, the trip really changed our perceptions of the country and was by far the most interesting trip I h

Someone ought to create a "stripe for stock trades" to make building stock bots easy-peasy for any developer looking for a challenge. I'd certainly use it.

New emails showed up really, really fast. Consider me impressed. Just a minor suggestion: you could wrap the email address in a link prefaced by "mailto:" to make it super easy to test the service.

Last summer I had the pleasure of visiting North Korea (with Koryo Tours). I think it's worth noting that the company is not North Korean -- it's based in Beijing and run by British expats.

I wonder if they could have made more by using Humble Bundle's model of unlocking an extra if the buyer pays more than average. Keeps the attractive flexibility of pay-what-you-want, but actually incentivizes people to pay up.
