Looks like you are correct. As another user has pointed out, those numbers a likely based on average driving of 10-15k per year, I would guess an uber driver who drives full time will easily drive twice that.

1. Don't hold them responsible when edge cases they were supposed to ignore cause downtime or headaches 2. Hold the business leaders responsible for failure to identify and document edge cases early enough in the process to include it

I take the same approach you do. When mentoring new developers I also start them off by assigning them tasks to read the docs for the core of the language we are working with.
