If you read the article, a lot of the decline is from international applicants. Reading other articles, the drop is primarily about visa concerns for post-MBA employment in the US, and who can blame them? My international classmates had a

Wow, FB keeps shooting itself in the foot. They'll likely blame an algorithm, not a deliberate human choice, but that's not a valid excuse.

Depends on what you'll be working on at Google, IMHO. Coding to sell more ads? Hell no. Coding to siphon more data on users from adjacency businesses to eventually sell more ads? Also hell no. That's like 85% of Google's

Very interesting! I hadn't heard of this before but I'd love to see it in action. If anyone from the FB team or anyone using LogDevice wants to test performance with Optane SSDs (and compare to a NAND SSD), make a request by subm

How does a $50M raise compare to other recent open source DB companies? This seems huge to me but no comparable companies come to mind.

While there's an explosion of data that we keep hearing about, the aspect I'm curious about is how much of that data will at any one point be "hot" or even "warm," in that it needs to be processed and analyzed

The modern SV economy to which you refer is built around massive valuations with huge growth expectations ahead of a buyout or (less rare these days) an IPO. I don't see DDG going public anytime soon, and it's unlikely to be sold

Would you do anything different with your storage software or SSD procurement if you didn't have to worry about filling up SSDs or wear leveling? Wondering how big of a pain point it is (disclosure: I work on new SSD tech at Intel).
