I'm still to hear a convincing argument about long-term nuclear waste storage.

Unless they make a big deal out of it, assume that Facebook will always harvest as much data as they can. I would also assume that it would be more complex to create exceptions in the data ingestion/retention pipelines, than in the ad

I can report that you can go to https://www.facebook.com/settings without needing to pick the free/subscription option and deactivate your account.

fly.io comes to mind with their cli-first approch (even tho they have a capable dashboard) I guess it really depends on your target audience

Use what your developers are familiar with. Also worth asking the question: does your project even need a frontend framework?

I don't know when this became the default, but if you don't define --tunnel-url it will use CF

I started leaning the Shopify CLI and syntax and was surprised to know that nothing works without Cloudflare tunnels. There is an option to use ngrok instead, but I have never seen such a setup for "local" development.

The only time I have had friction with profiles, is with some Google SSO as I use an unofficial extension called Google Container and sometimes the redirect just doesn't work. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef

There is this sentiment of "if you're not seeing ads, then you're welcome to leave" and I feel this is very short sighted and will scatter some communities that are the backbone of YT. I would assume people who are using

The Micro Bit is a worthy successor in the time of the smartphone and iPad It abstracts aways the annoying part and lets you focus on what you want to build.

Twitch (last time I checked) was successfully showing ads despite using uBlock. I only used twitch for couple of times, maybe more dedicated users have better adblocking setup

this. i’m addicted to youtube. if they make me pay that might be enough friction to get me to not use it. i’d probably switch to tiktok or something tho

I have been on bsky for a month or so. I don't think the goal of the team is to be the next-twitter. They want to grow in a way they (and their infra) can manage. Not sure how much runway they have there, but they seem not too stressed

I come from a country where the title "engineer" is legally protected and needs to be issued by an accredited school. This had zero impact on software developers careers or salary, except if you wish to work for the government.
