Anyone else think the costume would be about 17% more unnerving if the demon's face didn't look as if it had just been smacked with a cartoon frying pan?

Maybe this should be addressed elsewhere, but I wonder what you see as the benefit of multiple desktops. I've dabbled with them on occasion, and could never really see the point. Maybe my workstyle just doesn't fit well with it, and maybe

I'd suggest that "spiritual skills" encompass an understanding that there are connections between ourselves and our surroundings that defy precise, scientific description. Whether that's a feeling of camaraderie with your teammates, or a s

Then again, it might not. In any case, I'm polishing up my Galilieoscope and hoping for the best. ("The best" meaning that I don't actually need my Galileoscope, because I find it particularly difficult to aim and focus.)

Right, owners of the "S" model can charge free for life. No word on what owners of subsequent models will pay for it. I'm eager to see whether they can trim that 30 minutes down to, say, a max of 15. 30 minutes every three hours is too long

Unlikely you'll see this, so long after the fact, but oh well. My "method of substituting a variable" is nothing more than a more mathematically rigorous way of observing that x^2 + 1 is not prime for any of the odd integers, which is roug

x^2 + 1 is prime over the integers? Maybe they've changed math since I was in high school, but I'm pretty sure that, given n, such that n is an integer, if x = (2n + 1), then x^2 + 1 = 4n^2 + 4n + 2, which equals 2 (2n^2 + 2n + 1), which i

I'm with you--got a BS in EE&CS, and an MS in Software Engineering, but I can't really honestly say I'm an engineer, electrical, software, or otherwise, nor a computer scientist. Maybe a computer scientician... And while I did very we

It would be an awesome commuter car, but it's awfully hard to justify that price tag for something you only use an about 8 hours a week. Especially if the seats are as uncomfortable as he suggests. Still... if I had that kind of auto budge

Maybe it's my browser on this ancient laptop, or maybe it's my ancient eyes, but the two 2011s in the start/end dates in your reddit position don't look identical to me. It looks like there's more horizontal space between the 1s in the sec

Agreed, "slope" is a rather useless concept beyond algebra. When you're plotting, say, a position function, the slope of the function at any given point is of limited meaningfulness--the velocity , on the other hand, much more so! Likewi

It's interesting, I suppose, to know that his production cost is $9-12, but that's really pointless, isn't it? The important figure to know is what it's going to cost me to get my hands on one. That's the $60-90 figure. Which makes bizar

High school and college literature classes dealt a serious setback to my readership too. Most (not all) of the books I had to read were worth reading, but like a fine beverage, many should be sipped and savored, not gulped and dismissed. W

Thank you. That makes some sense. My kids have been taught "AMAP," or Attention-getter, Motivator, Assertion, and Preview. That has some merit, in that it allows you to appeal to the reader's curiosity, and develop interest in the topic

Emotionally, it would be great to see a return to manned space exploration, but the intellectual side of me has to ask 1) why return to the moon? and 2) how practical is it to send humans when robots can achieve 80% of the objectives at 20%

My first day at one employer, my HR rep scribbled some numbers on a paper and slid it over to me, saying, "Now this is your annual salary. We consider compensation to be confidential, and ask that you do not discuss it with anyone." "Under
