Just because you don't like the argument doesn't mean it's "tired." It's absolutely true. I block every ad, I will continue to do so, and should content go behind a paywall, I will simply not view it. If there

I know, right? I've never in my entire life intentionally clicked on an ad, much less made a purchase decision based on one.

Back in the old days, (early 1990's) when I was starting out on the internet, there was very little advertising. What advertising there was, was relatively unobtrusive. People were putting up content for personal reasons, passion or de

I agree with you. I refuse to view any ads whatsoever. There isn't a single website on the internet that I can't do without. As long as I can control what I view on my own device, I will. I have no problem with a business model d

My grandfather works for one of the studios. He's cleaning up and digitizing films that have never been released other than in theaters. They're slowly releasing these old films one at a time, I'm not sure where you can buy t

It is a non-existent problem. If you are offended, you are completely free to ignore the person that offends you.

People are walking around with a hair trigger, just waiting for a reason to be offended. As a society we've tolerated these agitators too long.

This is the age of the internet. We have no need for these publishing middlemen. Knowledge like this should be shared freely for the public good.

Wow, this blows my mind, but it doesn't surprise me. I encountered similar frustrations while doing an excellent job in the Marine Corps. I've come to believe that virtually any bureaucratic institution will be weighted this way.

Your argument sounds like a bunch of pretty arrogant generalizations to me.

This is the best story I've seen on HN in a long time. I wish I could upvote again. I'm also totally onboard with a new, anarchistic alternative to the internet. I think about this idea all the time, but I don't have anywhere

I like using Materialze or Bootstrap, depending on what the client needs. Lately I've been going very minimal and going without frameworks. My favorite tool right now is harpjs.

There is no right to not be "triggered". There is a right to free speech. The expansion of the victim mentality in the last few years blows my mind. Maybe I'm just getting older? I don't fit in with this society anymore.

I hear what you're saying. By worth, I didn't mean value - but I wasn't clear. I think art has much value, but as a commodity in the marketplace, holds very little worth. I agree that making quality art in one's spare ti
