They work for me OSX 10.8.3 on Chrome 27.0.1453.93. I can also access them from the HN2 app for Android on my Incredible. (ironically though, anyone who can't use them can't comment here to inform us of that fact)

The correct key wasn't put on full display, and the kids didn't really get much time to look over each key to pick the right one. He may have been able to determine the head shape in that time, but not much else.

I have many fond memories as a kid playing through all three Homeworld games. I'm glad Gearbox plans on revamping both one and two, so I can finally play online [0]! I'll also be looking forward to what they can do with modern graphics en

A lot of fun, even if most the ideas are nonsense or impossible. If you were to build this out further, I'd add more phrases like "There has to be a better way" (i.e. https://twitter.com/rdegges/status/325885686404227072 )

You're under the impression that "something cool" is strongly typed to code. In reality, there's much more that can be done. Building an organization to make something happen is much more difficult than pushing to GitHub and usually requi

As usual, those who are in it for the cash ruin it for those of us who just want to build something cool. Thanks for the extended explanation, I feel like I've learned more from this thread than the rest of HN this past week.

So the issue is less risk-adversity and more focus on a certain "ideal" risk. Interesting. As to "world domination," it's more a joking term for startups that are creating a new product that intends to replace what the market currently has

Is it just me, or are big-ticket gambles no longer viable in today's Valley culture? The article mentions that "Ultra local services like Uber, Lyft, Instacart, ZeroCater, Chewse, etc. are raising more cash than world domination disruptive

There are other factors at play here. Node has access to a bigger audience, but it's an audience that already has mature toys like Python/Perl/etc. Node not only has to create a great ecosystem, it has to create a better one than what a

Looking at the numbers posted in the article, there are almost as many npm packages published in four years of Node than there are Python packages published in 22. I think just saying "hey, they're new, it'll level off" is a great disservi

Working on trouser-color problems is also a form of procrastination. It's much more "fun" to tackle big problems with lots of code that will get Big Results. I always try to start my day with something really boring and basic for this reas

He's written quite a bit [0] on what they look for in founders. I'm not talking about pg writing a "How to optimize your app" essay, but literally "Indicators of Failure" [0] http://www.paulgraham.com/founders.html

People have been predicting the pop for a while now, I don't think that YC being picky (< 2% of applicants make it) is a sign of the apocalypse. They hit scaling problems, so what? It's not indicative of a larger problem.

Here's hoping pg writes an essay on what YC thinks the "predictors of failure" are. I'm sure some applicants for S13 are probably panicking, having optimized their application for the "old" version of the YC selection process. I'm not too
