I never disagreed with this. My point is, performing a return is a strong signal of dislike. Box stores hate returns as do online sellers. Failing anything else (because face it, ranting about it on the internet and pointing out the moral f

They have no buyer protection at all? A jurisdiction which breaks the assumption you are sold working objects is a problem, I suppose.

I remember the advice to buy a brother circa 2015-2017. Apparently it has changed? Personally unsure, I just bought one, as I worked backwards from "which printer has the cheapest toner" and it is still brother. There is no way to

If you don't want to install the app or create an account you can return the device at no cost. I don't think most box stores will fight you on this. Online sellers usually will, return shipping can be very expensive.

Limiting birthrate is not necessarily a good thing. It just means you have made life harder.

It's not bad. Then you just have the issue of the cost of the batteries. It's possible to have the device be corded and stay within a room or set of rooms.

Interesting point. I guess US print and media companies get globalization nearly for free because everyone wants to speak English. There's a lot of people who want to speak Japanese though. Issues getting money into the country?

No, you can prevent certain types of land ownership. Which is the second one, but it's more nuanced than "don't let people own land." The real issue I think is that modern wages can't support the cost of new constru

Residential and business rent can be disconnected. Isn't that what happened in SF? Massive oversupply of one because they're not interchangeable. In Kansas City there are some highly gentrified city neighborhoods but then a block

Rent used to be very, very low. Area was basically blighted, no? Everybody was moving out of eastern Germany.

The commercial exception is very strange. So I can simply say my product is intended for commercial use only and then ignore the law, regardless of actual end use? Is this the real reason why "commercial grade" is a thing?

You are seeing it incorrectly. If I buy a thing and then it remains broken because the manufacturer made specific choices, they should be forced to give me my money back.

Have to second this, I've heard far more stories of inspectors (as rarely as they come) ignoring an obvious loft in an improperly zoned area.

I agree, but we need to also remove the weird subsidies related to real estate and their derivatives for this to actually work. Rent control, fed policy, etc, lead to certain types of land development being favored.

He said infeasible, not impossible. You can run Linux with no MMU by compiling binaries with static offset into main memory but it's not amazingly practical.

I have lived in a very rural part of the US as well. Typically there's a rundown part of a small town (or for very small towns, the entire town) that has people caught in it that may not appreciate education, but generally my experienc

People in the US place extremely high values on education. What is lacking is people's ability to pay for it.

Some employers pay for higher education, but there is little ability for people to actually get that education. Many people in this thread do not value a masters specifically because they are not a good investment just looking at the price.

It should also be viewed as potentially disadvantaging people already in the US. If these programs are catering to wealthy foreigners looking to immigrate, then we're not serving whatever need may be inside the country already.
