Start with defaults; you can turn it back if it’s too noisy.

Why don’t they just use Trainium? Their keynote assured me they were superior in every way.

One of the best things you can do is enable AWS’s free Cost Anomaly Detector. I like getting pinged when something substantial changes.

Amazing work, and so have Some Thoughts… Unfortunately, the BlueSky profile in your site bio doesn’t exist anymore. What’s the best way to contact you?

Are you aware of any browser / extension that enables this behavior? It sounds like the privacy grail for some of us.

What I wonder is “have they isolated third party dependencies?” If AWS is hard down, those may well be impacted—in some cases, by their own third party dependencies. You can test turning off your AWS environment, but you can’t really test t

It can be done, but usually as a part of a longer term commitment deal. They (understandably) don’t want to give you a pile of credits just for you to flit off to AWS when they’re exhausted.

Oh! It’s your interface endpoints. Each one costs you a penny an hour (the S3 and DynamoDB gateway endpoints are free).

Right. That thing doesn’t incur cost itself. It’s a good egg.

I’ve been on BlueSky for a while—same username. Say hi! Check the usage type in Cost Explorer; if it’s under ec2-other, that disambiguates it. IPv6 egress costs the same as IPv4 egress; the IPs don’t.

I don’t know as I’ve ever seen Lambda versioning being used for anything in the wild. Folks just spin up different dev and staging environments for testing.

I hear you, but at the same time it was badly done. I’ve been referring to Redis as “a proprietary fork of Valkey,” and that message has clearly resonated.
