I enjoyed the first SimCity and I really enjoyed SimEarth. However, at some point I really stopped enjoying SimCity... and I'm not sure if it's that the game got more obsessively micro-managing or I just grew out of that style of

There's Labview, Scratch, and now I think, Luna. Are visual programming languages really now so common that we need to specify "text-based" for new computer programming languages?

I suffer from tinnitus and hyperacusis. Part of all that is that I frequently hear phantom echos of certain sorts of sounds... most notably the test of the district emergency siren that's done every saturday, which I "hear"

There's a book that outlines the treatment program. If I recall, I just found a PDF online. Basically it calls for a dose before drinking and before long it's no problem to just not drink any more. I will say that drinking while

Just the Naltrexone and it was simple and painless. I wish I had done it 15 or 20 years earlier.

I suppose I'm in the "despise AA" camp. After decades of alcohol abuse, I quit drinking using Naltrexone following the "Sinclair Method". In my opinion it's a far more rational and reasonable treatment program

Well, I don't think it's possible to design a novel general purpose processor overnight, so I'm not surprised that it's been four years coming. On the other hand listening to this talk I walked away with the impression

I've only been paying a little attention to this but it does seem pretty interesting and maybe even promising. Have they made any indications about production time lines recently?

Yeah, I can see how it might not work for everyone but for my needs it's pretty well suited and become part of my everyday workflow.

I found Epstein's book on Sugarscape, "Growing artificial societies: social science from the bottom up", to be fascinating. I'm not much of a programmer but I've tinkered around with various basic implementations o
