I assume he's referring to failed prototype rifles that never made it into mass production but appeared in videogames. Ask H&K for a list of the all the military rifles they ever made and dump it onto the list and you get some cool

Sadly the project feels semi-abandoned. No new releases so I had to build it from source. Also the PR board seems to be ignored (one or two of those are mine - I tried to fix the misleading button labels).

I've been giving Linux a go as a daily driver for a few months. I tried Cinnamon and while it was pleasantly customizable, the sigle-threadedness of the UI killed it for me. It was too easy to do the wrong thing and lock the UI thread

Infuriating that we get all the bad sides of digital ID without the good sides. It's deanonymizing and intrusive and mandatory for sites to implement without protecting them from sockpuppets and foreign troll farms.

From a UX perspective, the AI overview summary being a multi-paragraph summary makes sense since that was a single query that isn't expected to have conversational context. Where it does not make sense is in conversation-based interfa

Apparently I misremembered the story, while Pebble was prototyped in Canada by U of Waterloo guys, when they went startup & kickstarter with the product they moved to California.

Right. And that particular use-case sounds nice, but realistically this new format will not be exclusively used in that particular case. Dealing with basically another .webp-like format in those cases (one that might be a backwards-com

Let's be realistic - when most users are upset they got a .webp, they're not annoyed because of quality-loss, they're annoyed because they can't immediately use it in many other services & software.

AFAIK downconverting to jpeg is only an option for legacy jpegs that have been upconverted to jpegxl though. Many jpegxl images likely won't support downconverting if they were created as jxl from the get-go. Basically, jpeg->jxl

I get that there are people who are super excited by this for very good reasons, but for those of us downstream this is just going to be a hassle.

Imho the web and SQL brought us to the ridiculous point that the most obvious way to "modularize" was to use fully separate isolated apps and servers. This is because web and SQL are both dominant platforms for enterprise and are
