Some run far more than a few times a year... for instance Dean Karnazes. He once ran 50 marathons in 50 days as a promotion for North Face. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/15.01/ultraman.html

No offense, but I thought that story was messed up. What kind of man forces his wife to live in poverty to take care of him for 7 years so he can be free to read his books? I understand that wasn't the point of the story, but it was hard

You'll never get mega mega rich if you go ahead with your leisure rich plan (assuming you make it there). Which is more important?

Unfortunately, so will be the debit card (til all the charges go through, at least). Then you get the wonderful luxury of paying multiple $35 overdraft fees on top of your bills, which is exactly what you need when you're hurting. Cash on

I would almost think the opposite. Not because the business students will learn any more at the ivy league, but their networking would seem to be much more effective, which is what usually matters to business students anyway.

Which is why the CEO's of Toyota, Honda, etc make around 1 million USD per year, and are actually able to manage a company successfully? People aren't bitching about 1 million a year. Unfortunately, excessive bullshit like the Home Depot

Interesting question, but what's so great about "getting things done."? I'm guessing it's just a matter of personality, but contemplation is at least as important to me as any accomplishment.

What difference does it make if the events really happened? It's all in the past anyway, so fiction is just as "real" as non-fiction. What matters is the insights gained, which are often just as common in good fiction and often more eloqu

I realize this is picking on your example, and not the concept in general, but why doesn't "I never beat my wife." suffice? I agree that a yes/no answer won't cut it.

4HWW has a few good bits, but every time he mentioned TNR (The New Rich) I wanted to vomit. Did he really need a term for that?

Just curious... why would I want to give Twitter a business model for free? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense for me. If I came up with a good one, why not implement it myself as a competitor, or offer it to sell it to Twitter?

dynamic programming is usually more efficient. They'll be on the same order, but the constant factor is usually lower. However, if all that matters is that you're not getting into exponential territory, memoization should be fine.

In my experience going from syntax tree to interpreter/compiler is definitely the harder part. Parsing is a relatively straightforward task.

I didn't really how new-agey Steve was back when I used to read his stuff more often, but lately it all seems kind of hokey. Hopefully his ad revenue will go down a little bit and force him to come back to the real world.

I don't doubt the truth of this statement, but its not that easy. I can drink a cup of coffee at will, but napping not so much. It's not even that my work wouldn't allow me to; I could probably arrange for that. I just can't seem to take
