Are you guys kidding me? The guy above me even said he only browses facebook on his iphone. Using a dedicated app solves the privacy problem!

You probably could. I think perhaps whats different here is that the eco-movement is asking people to do things that make almost 0 difference in reality (taking a shorter shower, remembering to bring your green bag to take home groceries in

This is about to get a lot more complicated. Given that more and more people have access to internet on their phones, it'd be quite easy for someone to temporary tether to their phone to access whatever they want

I'd be happy to sample your MacRuby screencast and give you feedback on it, if the review copies are still available.

I solved the Instant Search problem when I was applying there for an internship. The puzzles aren't required for internships, but I figured it could only help, and I landed the internship. Was a great experience! For my solution, I tried bo

I'm not claiming that he's necessarily right, but Slavoj Zizek claims that so-called "consumer capitalism" actually does more harm than good. He says the fiction makes people feel good and complacent, and actually serves to prevent the frus

I remember really liking the book as well, but I read it in 7th grade, and didn't know anything about ol' L. Ron at the time. Revisiting it might be interesting, but I'd rather keep the fond memories.

Ya I've read that as well. It seems a very un-Apple move, but the timing is also weirdly coincidental. Not sure where I stand yet.

If you are talking about escapist fiction, I would agree with you, but some books definitely require thinking. That said, I think some TV does as well.

ya I didn't think the computer would be the expensive part. It was getting the fully open connection with decent symmetric bandwidth. Although I believe some places where they have fiber to the home, the ISP's will allow you to do so.

sorry, was being a bit facetious, but I don't think Lisp is too hard. Takes a bit getting used to, but once you do I don't feel its any harder than C, certainly.

I don't disagree with that, but simply asserting they pay taxes doesn't prove anything. If they more or less stole the money, paying back 20% is hardly contributing. Not saying they did, the verdict is still out there, but just pointing out

I don't believe we've heard anyone calling for the government to step in and force them to. But people are free to express why they think its a bad idea, for them and for Apple (in the long term), just as you are free to disagree with them.

Sure, that's fine, but he was the one claiming the iPad was more powerful in the first place. I was debunking his claim. If it doesn't matter, why bother claiming it at all? And yes, IPS is nice.

"running our own server is increasingly impossible" Do tell... it seems quite easy and affordable to run your own server now. A VPS can be had for under $50 a month, and if you really need the whole machine, $200 would probably do it. What

I'll give you that. I wouldn't expect to see rampant slavery in a truly free-market society. There aren't many people who would voluntary choose to become one, though no doubt they exist. And I definitely agree with you that it's too expens

You'd think so, but this is the 3rd review I've read where the adult was relatively disappointed in the iPad, but OH BOY does his child love it. It's starting to make me think its for kids.
