On the plus side: what are the odds that you both get locked out AND you desperately need your backups on the same day? They're both unlikely events. (You might want sync, but hopefully you won't need the backup due to a hard drive crash

Safe-to-spend is about your current obligations, and other stuff that would reduce your "really available" balance; there's more money physically in the account, in a true emergency you'll rob from tomorrow to pay today's emergency room vis

I have USAA, and yes, this is exactly what they do (for some payees; others are actually electronic). My bank statement treats it as a check, and they have scans of the checks written this way. It's a bit of a surprise, because I'm writ

Yes, you can deposit checks by taking pictures. (I'm not the throwaway account above, but I do have a USAA account through my father-in-law, who's retired Navy. And yes, you need a US military connection to get an account there.) Personal

Well, ABS is kinda expensive if you're buying it in spools from Makerbot: about $45/kg. That's around $5 per toy, if they're smallish, or around the cost of a toy you'd buy. It's not saving you money, anyway.

And many sites specifically state that you're signing over the copyright as part of posting.

When do you remove the feature entirely? Or do you just discourage users until, at some future point when a change breaks it, you don't get any complaints?

So if I'm using that app, I'd have to check the developer blog, or some "news" section, every week just to see if one of my favorite features might get axed? It sounds like a really annoying thing for a user.

Ouch, that may be a serious problem. Are all of the projects intended "for production"? That is, are there some projects that Pulse won't pay for even if they're completed successfully (internal stuff)? Now you're excluding all candidates

I had the same experience during a snowstorm in Seattle. My flight was cancelled, worse weather was moving in, and I just wanted to get to California for a family holiday. I got a ticket to San Jose---from Portland. Because I was willing

The trick is the sales process: finding companies who are willing to give what amounts to a 75% discount. This is the part that's so expensive in Groupon, and what's eating into their profitability the most.

Of course home invasions happen every day. That's not the point. The point is that AirBnB directly put the criminal in her home, though of course they didn't realize that. I'll leave out the "is EJ lying or is AirBnB" question for now, but

I haven't downvoted, but I suspect the "she could have been broken into without AirBnB's influence anyway" is the anger-inducing part of your comment. I certainly don't like it.

The total number of script-kiddies might go down a bit. Of course there's always going to be some gullible 13-year-olds who run scripts, but the idea is to have less of them. It's more of a statistical argument than an anecdotal one.

I swear, "self-motivated" and "detail-oriented" are two of the most over-used descriptions in job descriptions. Now I'm not sure, when I see those descriptions, whether they're real, or if they're just boilerplate, or whether they're code

IE 4 was better than Netscape 4, but the average user - the vast majority of not-terribly-technical sorts - goes with whatever's on the computer to begin with. Microsoft probably could have won the browser war (albeit much later, and less

The mostly-just-one-way-to-organize-it approach cannot be overstated here. XPath is neat, but iterating through parser results is still a pain.
