I read only as far as the abstract. What would motivate an adult to feign ADHD symptoms? Is it access to prescription drugs? Disability benefits?

Or leave it as is and let it become a honeypot for people who don’t understand the laws of thermodynamics.

I heard a podcast interview with the doctor recently who said that we have technology that can be implanted into someone who is at risk for dying of sudden cardiac arrest that will prevent it from happening. It tends to add a few years onto

Thank you for sharing that link. This whole question has been on my mind a lot lately. I am 55 years old, and my son is 11. Both of my parents died in nursing homes. I don’t yet know how I want to die, but I have a good idea of how I don’t

Before you wave this off as a “both sides are just as bad” issue, consider that the reason Amazon started down the path of displaying tariffs is likely due to a long-standing company value of putting the customer first. It makes sense that,

I agree! I try to remember to prompt as if I were writing to a colleague because I fear that if I get in the habit of treating them like a servant, it will degrade my tone in communicating with other humans over time.

They can be held in contempt and fined. I suppose it’s possible that someone in the administration (but not the president) could be jailed, but I don’t know that has ever happened in US history. If a judge ordered the arrest and confinement

"You know, you probably know this phrase, 'Do not obey in advance.' That's Tim Snyder, who's a historian of authoritarianism. We now are in techno-authoritarianism. We have to learn how to digitally disobey."

Bonnie and Clyde (1967), The Wild Bunch (1969), The Godfather (1972). I think that’s when it really changed.

I use jrnl (jrnl.sh) to keep a daily work journal. I start every day writing about the most important things from the day before. My journal entries are comprised of a headline followed by a short blurb. It’s easy to script with jrnl, so I

Plot twist: STDs are endemic in the space station. Turns out low earth orbit is a powerful aphrodisiac, and space agencies have hid this from the general public for years. Now we know more about why billionaires are racing so urgently to ge

First time I've ever seen the word "schmutz" in a headline. It refers to a black particulate found inside the compounded drug.

That’s a poor headline. Since when does “cough” mean spend? Maybe they meant “cough up,” but spend is so much more clear. Don’t get me started on “capex.”

But that’s the point. Look at all these American workers who quit and we can’t find qualified candidates to fill their vacant positions, so that, Senator, is why we need your vote to expand the H1B visa program.

There’s also the embedded presumption that being rich is a superior state. I think there’s plenty of evidence that being poor is physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting, but that doesn’t mean that being rich is renewing. I know

I think you can get to acceptance. My wife died almost 20 years ago. I can think about her and remember the times we had and not feel so debilitated by her loss. I’m still sad that she’s gone and I still miss her, but I’ve given up on wanti

That’s so accurate. I think of it as something that happens to you. Grief comes for you, often when you least expect it. It’s a trap door you didn’t know you were standing on. Mourning, however, is active. It’s a choice to turn and face you

I think what fuels a lot of conspiracy thinking is an emotional preference in having a nefarious actor or government agency controlling or causing a problem than realizing no one is in control. The Devil is less frightening than entropy.
