Kochan seems OK. I've seen the Objective-C book from The Big Nerd Ranch and 50% of the book is about basic C. This is not appealing to me, obviously if you know nothing about C (or you have limited experience) this could be a good match for

I think the best way to start developing for iOS is trough Objective-C (especially if you already know C). Otherwise I agree with what you said about starting with a small application.

Have a look at OpenCL, I think you will use OpenCL or a similar framework to code for this device.

Am I the only one who thinks that self medication is a stupid idea ? I mean if you play with your own brain you can't really be able to made objective "observations". My conclusion, don't do it unless you need it!

I really doubt you could use CUDA on AMD or Intel GPUs, after my knowledge CUDA runs only on NVIDIA platforms.
