I'm working on a project where pushing a commit to a submodule runs a CI job which updates the reference on the parent repository. This seems to lead to very few issues.

I wish iCloud backup was a true backup. It's really a sync, so if you accidentally rm -rf a file well you better hope you can yank out your Ethernet cable in time (or turn off wifi)

Google is working hard to make it so you shouldn't be able to easily make new accounts. New accounts basically require a phone number and you can only use one phone number so many times before they won't let you use that phone num

This seems to be a constant in a lot of programmer spaces. Stack Overflow was notorious for toxicity a while back. Even some of the programming subreddits have power-tripping mods and whatnot.

I once tried using a Python library to upload videos with an API key. All videos uploaded got forced private due to "spam".

I mean I had never thought about the case where the command that find executes creates subfolders of the directory it's executed in.

Certbot has a Cloudflare extension so all you need to do is provide a credentials file and it will automatically apply everything. I have a monthly cronjob running that runs the cloudflare certbot in Docker.

Xcode used to be absolutely massive, being 10GB+ a few years back. They seemed to have done a better job at making it smaller.

I once tried to export a simple infobox template with dependencies and it exported 30-40 different template/module pages.

Nobody mentions how similar options trading are to an actual casino. I am a victim, as I made a dumb options bet for $8 and ended up with $70 in one day. From there I tried to make it more and more and eventually ended up losing more money

I've done enough fighting with Certbot to learn that the path of least resistance is to use dns-01 with the cloudflare plugin, and just make a very limited access key and store it on the servers that I am using to renew the cert.

If the users were using free domains instead of paying for a domain do you think they'd use paid cloudflare? The cost of a domain is so much lower than the cost of Cloudflare.

Jellyfin is fine if you direct stream only, but any form of transcoding will kill your server. It is a bit hard to get other people to download the desktop Jellyfin Media Player or Infuse on iOS, and I don't think Android has a version

How do you think YouTube failed? If you tried to get someone to name a search engine that's not Google, they could maybe think of Bing or DuckDuckGo or something. If you tried to get someone to name a email service that's not Gmai

Didn't Apple try to implement client-side CSAM scanning and then everyone threw a huge hissy fit over it? I mean the idea was flawed for privacy reasons but you cannot stop everyone without stripping all privacy from everyone.
