By rewriting commits and using `git rebase -i`, `git commit --fixup` you can avoid the garbage and still have smaller commits that passes tests and are easy to review.

What you say is true for container images and putting an ELF binary as the only file in an image doesn't make much sense if your only purpose is to run it without any other requirements. However don't forget that Docker also give

"Uber for X" became the Uber for analogies and it's definitely not used as much today than a few years ago due to their current situation and issues.

If you're using (or want to use) Terraform and consider running k8s on AWS take a look at tectonic-installer[1] and its `vanilla_k8s` setting. My opinion is that it's far better than kops `-target=terraform` output. It's also

NAT Gateway support bursts up to 10 Gbps[1] and t2.small something like 125-200 Mbps [2]. For production use cases this can make a huge difference. [1] http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonVPC/latest/UserGuide/vpc

An option of having a variable number of required approvals would be nice. Or something to enforce: "One person creates pull request, another reviews, a third merges."

Across processes perhaps? But hash(a) == hash(a) and hash(b) == hash(b) so a dictionary that with a and b inserted will yield the same order every time. d1 = dict() d1['a'] = 1 d1['b'] = 1 print(d1.keys

Deprecating it won't affect that code since it's more of a flag to indicate that future use should be limited to ensure forward compatibility.

One of the quotes in this article was written by me on Quora. At the time of typing my response was intentended to be more of a semi serious rant. Just thought this would be worth mentioning.

Cool but I'm not a big fan of the idea by storing "state" in aliases that later commands can reference. (It's better than environment variables though.) For source code I've had a really good experience with ctags[1

Since interactive rebase was mentioned I'd recommend taking a look at its --autosquash flag and the --fixup flag of commit. With autosquash the interactive rebase will move fixup commits to where they belong: git commit --fixup=<

That's a really nice solution actually, letting git do the magic. I'm definitely gonna try it. At the moment I use a python install script that backup already existing files and set up the symlinks.
