As mentioned, when you copy from the URL bar, you get the http:// prefix so this is a non-issue.

I'm impressed by the passion with which people want http:// back in their URLs. Perhaps it's tangential to the original thread, but why's it such a big deal?

It does not have a potentially unlimited budget. As was mentioned above, these are often contracted third parties who develop the systems. They put in bids on government jobs and undoubtedly have their own margins to look after. Once the jo

Yeah to be honest, I never understood that. Google's serving things that will hopefully be more relevant to your interests and you might enjoy. Personally, I think it beats all the other ads about tips on how to whiten my teeth or lose 10 p

I thought everyone just assumed that the "Nigerian Prince" thing was a front and it was likely some Eastern European or American behind it all. I thought the "Nigerian" bit was just to add to the allure or something.

As a Canadian, I'm not entirely familiar with your education system. That being said, wouldn't schools receive funding based (at least in part) on the number of children enrolled at them? I would have thought that would have made more sense

Wow, I'd never looked at this before but there's some interesting stuff popping up in there. I think people believe Pastebin is more private than it actually is because in the 30 seconds I scanned through, I saw a Data Dump on a small E-com

Personally I really enjoyed the short slide by slide format a lot. Perhaps it's a short attention span brought on by years in front of a computer, but I struggle with massive walls of text occasionally. At the very least I found it to be a

I can't imagine that happening. It seems to me most people are locked in to IE largely out of indifference or workplace constraints. If anything, IE has vastly improved as a browser over the last few years. If IE was ever going to be dethro

Wouldn't that completely undermine the benefits of UEFI? An attacker could just enable BIOS and there'd be no benefit from UEFI at all.

You're definitely right, and I don't agree with the author regarding the idea that Eric was outright lying. I just don't think the search engine market has been very volatile lately. As others noted, Bing's increasing market share comes lar

Has the search engine been volatile at all over the last five years? It seems to me to be extremely stable compared to other areas of the web. Eric Schmidt knows that Bing isn't going to be eclipsing Google any time soon, I think that's wha

I'd be hesitant to imply causality like that. Red light cameras could be very well placed at high accident intersections as an attempt to reduce accidents. (I'm not claiming their effective at it, but that could be one of many reasons they
