I wonder if we're only getting to see one side of the issue here. How does enterprise react to changes like this? Could JetBrains perhaps compromise: Offer the current licensing for individual/independent developers, but the subsc

I regret neglecting to mention Elm in the original article. I've only played around with their tooling, but it looks really awesome. It's probably even more in the spirit of Bret's original article as they've gone beyond

Individual is if you're purchasing for yourself. (You can use it at work if you'd like). Enterprise is if you're purchasing multiple licenses (ie. licenses for employees).

I actually wondered the same: Are these ideas meant to apply more broadly to programming in general, or are they a framework for learning? So I reached out to Bret on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ThisIsJoshVarty/status&

Definitely. Unfortunately each language/IDE takes a pretty long time to support. I'm fairly sure we can (theoretically) grow to support most popular languages outside of C/C++. We take suggestions at: http://github

Yup it should work fine with external libraries and project functions. Basically: If your tests can run it, Alive can run it. That's bizarre that AdBlock breaks it for you. Hopefully everything works now (if not let me know and we can

Yeah I suppose we should probably take the second one down as it's no longer a good representation of the product. (We've overhauled the UI). I think we'll leave it up until we've come up with a good replacement.

I think the main difference is that Alive can run any piece of code you unit test. This means we can run code dependent on state. We're hoping thus makes it easier to read and modify code written by others.
