Well, if List<T> is invariant on the T, then you cannot usefully have lists parameterized on interfaces, which is losing a useful ability. I'd say that classifies as a thorny edge case. In Haskell, I can represent the type: (Sho

If you have a class Sub implementing an interface IBase. How does C# handle the case of List being used as List<IBase>? If it is allowed, does it let you do: List<IBase> base = subList; base.append(someOth

The edge cases regarding generics have to do with the mixing of inheritance subtyping and generics. The ML family have working generics and they work well. Go made the good decision of avoiding sub-typing, so they should not have a serious

Opaque types like "Integer" don't give a lot of assurance, so either you get a stronger type system (Agda-style) or you have to test. But complicated code may work with non-opaque types, and so it could still be reliable without tests.

On a touch screen, you only have two primitive gestures from which all gestures are composed: Taps and swipes. Composition may be chronological or simultaneous (multi-touch). This space of gestures is so narrow, that any idea within it can

Haskell has tuples, so it could use an: (a, b) -> c representation. If the uniform/canonical way to use functions is defined to be curried, then flip can simply return them curried.

They seem to simply be missing flip. // Lets curry subtract instead of add var subtract = Udon.curry(function(a, b) { return a - b; }); var five_minus = subtract(5); var minus_five = Udon.flip(subtract)(5)

If you want to write functions that are polymorphic on any monad, they'd have to take a type argument explicitly, which also reduces their cost-effectiveness. I am not sure Monads are a cost-effective abstraction in most languages.

Generalizing Monad in a language without return-type polymorphism is hard. How do you implement "return" (unit)?

Exceptions can be modeled by a type like "Maybe" that simply also has the error information in it. So instead of a "Nothing", you have "Left err" with the "err" information in it. The nice thing is that the same example using >>= ab

No, that's false -- consider the Maybe case. If you carry around the content of the Maybe, it will still remain valid even after the Maybe itself is overwritten. Races are of course still possible but they don't relate to boolean blindness.
