I'm wanting to put serious effort into getting better at illustration, specifically figure illustration. I'm also planning to continue getting better at piano. For your second goal, if you're referring to implementing your ow

Steam handles this problem fairly well, IMO. They show a graph of positive/negative reviews over time, making review bombing stand out. If Valve identifies the anomaly as being off-topic they can even mark it as such an exclude the rev

That's really just fundamentally not how I mentally handle spending money. I get that they're logically equivalent, but it goes against my world view to pay per activation on something like this. I have great disdain for the subsc

I can change tires myself if I want to, and when I'm paying for tires to be changed for me I'm paying for the labor involved not the feature of having different tires.

For me it's primarily the amount of time spent. Hacker News has much less content and less content diversity. I very rarely go beyond the first page of HN, and only like a quarter of the posts at most are something that I'm intere

Wanted to echo the suggestions of ThisOldTony, BenEater, and bigclivedotcom. ZackFreedman is another good marker, although he can be a bit goofy. If you like mechanical things in general, both SouthMainAuto and HVACRVIDEOS are fantastic.

I actually read it as the former, but I found it amusing more than insensitive. That being said your interpretation is much more charitable, although I also don't currently feel like I have a great answer to that variant. I've def

Reddit was a bad habit for me, so I've resisted outright replacing it. (I basically haven't even looked at Lemmy.) I mainly read Hacker News more than I used to and started reading Ask a Manager[0] regularly. A big benefit of both

I took the protest as an opportunity to quit my 12 year Reddit addiction cold turkey and never came back, seems like I'm not the only one. Sometimes I miss /r/houseplants but I'm better off overall.

Not to diminish the other sketchy stuff Google's doing, but I think the maps lag issue might actually be Firefox's fault. Whenever it happens to me WebGL stops working across all websites and restarting the entire browser fixes it

I've opened up my water kettle before and it uses a little bimetalic strip to shut itself off once the water is boiling. According to the label it sucks 1500 watts and it's just shoving mains voltage through the heating coil.

In an EV charger, it's more likely to be a contactor, which is similar to a relay but can better deal with high amounts of current. (Technology Connections has a video on the differences https://youtu.be/VsNHrAzx5_w ) I

My preference for float4 comes from HLSL so I'm aware. For vectors of 16 bit floats my preference would be half4 etc. (Although I do concede that in HLSL land that doesn't actually do what you want on older language versions.) IMO

I actually have the opposite feeling. I like the non-sized type names like float extended as float4 or float4x4. My brain wants to read f32x4 as a 32 by 4 matrix of floats. (That being said I'd definitely be interested in trying your c

That's the nature of MIDI files. They don't encode audio, they encode a set of instruments with a list of notes. It's up to whatever's playing them to provide what those instruments actually sound like. Here's an ex
