I thought gaming was taking the optimal path, ie: min/maxing. Abusing a weakness in the system sounds more like "cheating" or "fraud."

I had an interviewer say something very similar to that to me once during a live pair coding session. I got to a point where I asked him a question about how javascript worked and he said "Hmm, I don't know. Let's see!"

I'm also only interested in remote jobs. I live in the middle of nowhere because that's where my extended family is from. If given the choice, I'd prefer to be able to watch my kids play with my sister's kids, for my kid

Have humans really changed in the last 2000 years? You can still find books today published back during Roman times complaining about kids these days and how they mispronounce latin.

No. Being a generalist is awesome. I get to follow wherever my interests lead and I'm interested in a lot of things. I don't know what I would do with myself if I had to focus on one narrow piece of it for years on end. What I do

I agree in general, but there is one exception and that exception applies here: film noir. Johnny Mnemonic and cyberpunk in general derive a lot of its inspiration from film noir and film noir in color just isn't the same.

Are you paid primarily for product design, graphic design or engineering? That's a killer trifecta of skills. It reminds me of some advice from Scott Adams: "Become very good (top 25%) at two or more things."

I disagree. Some of my best jobs were contract to hire positions. The interviews are much more humane because the company isn't so worried about making a hiring mistake. I don't know why, but something about "not renewing a c
