I’m not sure how an items cost can be determined by the action you might take after it breaks.. It costs what it costs because that’s how much it costs to make it and have a mark up on it. These factors are not a commentary on its durabilit

It’s cheap because it’s mass produced. If you asked for one you’d be charged for all the engineering, r&d and manufacturing for a one off. It would be a suitably expensive controller, but probably no higher quality. The cheap controller

If I put myself in Reddits shoes, if there was any doubt in my mind about a policy, this would actually have the opposite effect and make me firm up my stance. Standing firm now becomes about not setting precedents for future hackers. This

I think this fragmentation is kind of a shame. It would be great if there were one place everyone agreed to go to. If I quit reddit today and pick up a new interest in a few months I'd be at a loss as to where to find a community for i

For years I just wanted a good user experience playing video files from my MBP to a TV, I spent a lot of money (on NAS, chromecasts etc), used a lot of software with objectively terrible user experiences (Plex I'm looking firmly at you

Yeah innovation is known for being terrible in most aspects... Or do you simply mean early tech? Because if so there are strong reasons to wait for things to mature before using them for common use-cases.

This would be chaos. Most of the big subreddits have a combination of bespoke bots and complex automod configs that even the current mods struggle groking. Reddit would lose a ton of quality through poor moderation quickly if you put everyt

You know I often daydream of creating a social media site that has a small monthly subscription, a way to show users they are not the product, a way to maintain integrity and not have to appease any VCs. But when faced with it here I couldn

I used to use bear but it would constantly override options I’d set regarding things like smart quotes etc. I use obsidian now, and I really like it.

https://hasura.io/ is pretty good, easy to containerise and self host, it offers more than CRUD but does CRUD very well by default. I use it as a backend in one of my side hustles.

I wonder what percentage of phone calls would add anything meaningful to models, I imagine that the nature of most phone calls are both highly personal and fairly boring.

I’m really unsure it works like this. It sounds logical but in practice stealing an idea is hard. I’d actually love to read a thread about people making 2k per month on a stolen sass idea.

Mics? Chances are (unless you're a vocalist) you can either DI straight into a plugin or use a VSTi to just midi program a sampled version of your instrument both performed and engineered to a higher standard than you can reach.
