At least on the desktop the prominent greeting text is "Buy European Made. Support European Values"?

My first thoughts exactly. How do you prevent this from turning into what we had with flash if you don't provide the framework to build the UI components.

Almost everything I do for work uses teams, so I can't say MS missed any boats. It's spectacular how pervasive teams is given how universally reviled it is. I'd personally switch back to slack in a heartbeat for instance.

They do have huge amounts of whitespace everywhere so I guess they did do some modern UI design.

My colleague showed me his windows machine recently. The rubber on the back around the fans has melted from the times he forgot to shut it down and sleep didn't trigger when he packed it away in his backpack.

I found that it's often best to use google search to search the kobo store. Books sometimes have multiple editions with significant price differences. Not sure if it would make a difference in this case.

The alternative I see mentioned here is kobo. I haven't used/owned a kindle so I don't know what amazon do better than the kobo store. I can say that I've bought over 50 books on the kobo store, can't recall a singl

Wouldn't the AI track be more about the knowing the internals, being able to build models, ... So in your 1981 example that would be saying about half of the people are enrolling in computer hardware courses, whereas only a fraction of

I'm getting much higher framerates in Civ VI on linux since I switched to Wayland, so there is that. For the rest it just works for me, use it both professionally and privately.

It is happening. There is a lot of bad software out there. Terrible to use, but still functional enough that it keeps selling. The question is how much crap you can pile on top of that already bad code before it falls apart.

Agreed that a C++ API for qml would be great. qml by itself is great though, I don't see why it is unweildy. If anything it's unpolished, there is stuff that is more difficult than it should be, but it's miles ahead of what t

For me the 10x engineers don't write the same code as others faster, they come up with approaches and ideas that others simply don't think of, resulting in huge gains in terms of development speed and/or product features.

Most C++ devs don't care that much either way I'd say, it's a vocal minority that does. I really don't understand the nay-sayers though, been a C++ dev for over 15 years, I'd give an arm and a leg for 1. faster lang

I agree with some of this, and the author could've made a better case for from/to_chars: - Afaik stoi and friends depend on the locale, so it's not hard to believe this introduced additional overhead. The implicit locale depe

Cool article. They somehow got the formula wrong though, the formula on the screenshot has an additional factor of 0.9 that accounts for the fact that 1l of oil is not 1 kg. Perhaps it's intentional, but for something so simple I don&#

I guess oil is repelled by water, so when it's poured on top of water it's more like floating on top. So the water pushes up, gravity pulls down and the oil molecules pull on each-other, there is no horizontal friction, allowing t

I prefer the pdfs. Most of the time you can zoom out enough to actually have a sizeable part of the menu visitble instead of 3 items at a time.

Just searched "best pet insurance", am inside Europe. Forbes is #1. I distinctly recall seeing this from time to time. Interestingly they're also the #1 for pet insurance on duckduckgo.

I've had to work with api functions like https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winuser/... and friends. It was by far the most unpleasant api I've ever worked with.

You also need citations though, and those don't come with low quality papers, nor will they help your reputation. To get citations people have to actually read your stuff.
