I find this comment really interesting, because NONE of my clients in the last 10 years of (self-) employment had even a single codebase on GitHub. I am contributing to a few open source projects on GitHub here and there though.

ONLY if it's Open Source! I am done paying taxes upon taxes upon taxes (not US based) and helping others becoming richer. It's totally fine for the government to add backing, but then it must be Open Source OR it must partly belon

Eh, no? My Code editor is NeoVim or it's IntelliJ But there is no HTML page involved at all. What I want to hint at: You're extrapolating the usage of VSCode.

No, sorry, the vice versa is not true. You can write any possible SQL query in SQL, but you can't write all of them in an ORM (without falling back to native SQL queries) SQL is strictly more powerful. Sometimes it's also way more

The rich stay rich no matter what. Hell, there are companies and families who supported the third Reich openly. They were rich before world war 2, they were rich after and they are still rich today. Not to mention none of them had to go to

I dislike all the warts of React, all the rules that fail at runtime... If hooks and the rules of them would be enforced at compile time, it could be great. I prefer solid

Absolutely! I am killing a huge React app step by step and replacing it with HTMX. Best thing I did in many years for that project.

I don't need to show anything. Anything newly invented wasn't shown before it was, well, invented. So what stops us humans from not living in crappy dictatorships and not in shitty capitalism?

It's fine to say no to a particular patch on technical grounds. It's fine to say no to any other language but C in the Linux Kernel on a global basis. What's not fine is caprice and depotism. Either Rust is allowed, or it is

I totally agree that even "just threatening" a social media campaign is the wrong way. We are on the same page here. I totally disagree that the other contributor is "a bit" abrasive though. It's like a religious wa

I do, so I have a working solution. I am not migrating to something just because it's new. My solution works for me. If it doesn't anymore, I'll see what I'll do. Depending on the service I'll swallow the bitter pil

Documentation can be utterly useless, if taken to the extreme. Like e.g. in Java it was common to have a comment on a simple (!) setter, telling you "this sets X" No shit, captain obvious! Never would have guessed that. I like a c

The average person in the US maybe. And the third world. In Western Europe? Not so much. I mean, yes, there are poor people, but the middle class mostly doesn't live paycheck to paycheck.
