But why blame the extensions instead of the auto-update feature? Wouldn't it be more effective to build external code review practices around the extension eco-system? For example, if you want to publish or update an extension, you fir

Yes, but the news cycle only liked the topic when it could be outraged. There were no large headlines explaining how things were resolved, which is what I was complaining about.

The little ice age was between ~1300 and 1850. It's now nearly 200 years later and I don't think it unreasonable that, say, glaciers melt faster the smaller they get.

Shouldn't the smaller scale be a lot more easy to figure out? The larger the scale the more variables there are the harder everything becomes.

I'm not having trouble understanding the physics. CO2 levels are now around 400ppm. During the Cambrian age it was ten times of that at around 4000ppm. If CO2 levels were so much higher before humans existed, then how did it go down? (

Given how we are at the tail end of a small ice age, shouldn't it be expected that temperatures recover to what they were previously? I never quite understood how climate is simultaneously too complicated to understand and predict the

The hole is still there as far as I can tell, though. I hate it when the news cycle alerts people and then never gives out updates and closure.

Microsoft used to ship a Linux binary for Teams, but they stopped doing that. Guess the tech was lost.

I have to admit that I never got to visit facebook in all my life, since my browser add-ons made it so the site would never properly load. I'm not sure whether I've been missing out or dodging a bullet.

(1) Fertility rate is low, we need immigration. (2) The world is overpopulated, we need to reduce our numbers. Pick one. Personally, I do not believe either "we need" to be true, but I keep hearing both contradicting viewpoints, w

Haven't heard this being implemented outside of systemd. Recently switched a media PC to Void and so far I like it. Might just move everything to Void Linux.

Because the government then by default has a monopoly on everything. The worst of the worst. It doesn't matter who the people with the monopoly are, it matters that there is a monopoly. It's like saying that a just king is better

That's where legislation is supposed to step in to prevent monopolization, which currently is not happening sufficiently. The alternative is the government owning everything from the start, which is worse.

It's worth repeating, since so many people have different ideas about what capitalism is, but it's only having the means of production (factories, tools, employees, etc.) in private hand (as opposed to being owned by the governmen

The point of the OP in this case wasn't code that compiles, but code that does what the customer wants. If the customer orders an email client but really wants a chat application, coding a working email client is not "correct"
