The NVIDIA keynote today mentioned on-chip encryption for model data actually. Not sure how entirely that covers your proposed case, but it’s already something they’re working on at least.

Is a model so huge that’s only at the level of GPT 3.5 actually good? That seems incredibly inefficient to me.

Really? Other than the iPhone and Apple Watch which do have clear series naming, I find it basically impossible to determine if any particular Apple product name is the latest version or several years old. The iPads especially, and the MacB

It doesn’t appear to be using the sound from the video, but elsewhere in the report for Gemini 1.5 pro it mentions it can handle sound directly as an input, without first transcribing it to text (including a chart that makes the point it’s

Compliant being the keyword there. Are you saying all of the crappy cheap low-end USB-C cables you find on Amazon are fully compliant? You have to put an effort to find brands that are actually legitimate, and pay more for that. Hence the

Instagram does something similar with suggested posts. Every time I see suggested content in my feed, I click the extra settings and tell it to “snooze suggested content for 30 days”. There’s no option to turn it off entirely, but there’s a

Arn’t video podcast still a thing? I mean I don’t watch any myself, but the technology has been there for at least a decade. If people aren’t using it, it’s probably more of a user experience or discoverability or other issue.

The hoops you have to jump through to use a local account are a prime example of user hostility. Sure it’s technically possible, but only if you are power user that searches online and figures out how. That’s the general feeling I have with

Assuming the Dropbox is synchronized somewhere to your file system, the FTP server could serve that directory. Although I guess not everyone synchronizes their Dropbox locally.

Sounds like Meta. I once had to solve a Facebook business page issue (another erroneous automated decision) that went unanswered for a year, and the only way I got it moving was to send a legal threat to Meta on a lawyer’s letterhead. Ended

That’s assuming Meta has support teams. I’ve yet to see evidence of that. I once had to solve a Facebook business page issue that went unanswered for a year, and the only way I got it moving was to send a legal threat to Meta on a lawyer’s

I’d say somewhere around half of the marking emails I receive in the USA have one-click unsubscribe. It’s still very common to have unsubscribe links that require you to enter your email address and then select that you actually want to uns

There’s some really crappy offbrand gaffer tape on Amazon these days. The “pro gaff“ brand which costs around $30 a roll is the good stuff I recommend. (Source: I run a theater and pay hundreds of dollars a year for gaff tape. I have tried

I still use WSL1 daily. It makes a lot more sense than WSL2 for me. If I want a VM of Linux, I’ll run a VM of Linux. The exciting thing about WSL from the beginning was the notion of actually running Linux processes in Windows without a VM.

2.5G and 3G networks were bad at the time, and many phone plans that included data had unlimited data. The only thing that kept them up was the fact that so few people had data-capable smart phones.
