If anything these media companies should all have learned the obvious lesson from the last 10 years. The lesson that Gabe Newell put so succinctly years and years ago: "Piracy is not a pricing issue, it's a service problem."

She was right about “macho engineers” in my opinion. They can be extremely disruptive for both a team and an org.

I know that this is a commonly held belief, but: why does it need to be broken down? Can a 13 not just be a 13?

Looks interesting. Definitely a step up from AZERTY which when I've looked at it seems to have been put together by someone who insists on holding French programmers back. This still puts a lot of emphasis on right-most part, which mak

The graph is unusable considering the context of the different countries. You simply can not compare the two considering how little attention Sweden actually pays to Covid in general and how little testing facilities there actually are in

I wish there would be more talk about the other side of Covid: the people suffering of various long term post-covid problems. I think this will be the high price that Sweden really will have to pay in the long run.

Or it's due to the fact that people are like me. I never liked Evernote nor Onenote because they always felt clunky and got in my way. When I found an alternative that I liked (Notion) I switched to it. Simple as that really.

Aha, sure. My intention with "semi" was to indicate that it would still not be anywhere near FAANG-levels; but rather closer to a median "good" salary.

I think this quite accurately explains it: https://xkcd.com/538/ Not saying the method is violence per se, but rather that there are a lot of alternatives to finding vulnerabilities and backdoors.

Having worked in government (although not in US), top fixes for me would be: * Make it easier to fire incompetent people. A job that's in the service of the people should not be a cozy "I'm now set for life" type of gig.

It's not a theory in EU at least. It's a fact. You think it's some arcane knowledge to make buildings beautiful? It's not. They're still occasionally made this way like I said. They just don't want to do it.

Why would you need one? Do we need referendums in software for usability? No, we do not. We test with users and accommodate their needs and wants. That architects have strayed away from this is crazy.

People do occasionally order buildings to be done in an older style that most enjoy. You know what happens afterwards? The architect involved gets ostracised. It’s “grotesque” apparently. The problem is absolutely the architects and their
