Before the orange names, I refrained from commenting if I thought it was likely my comment would end up being downvoted to 0 points or less. Now, I'm likely to refrain from commenting if I think my comment won't get upmodded to 5 points or

pwnyoutube.com claims fair use: "PWN!" is a frequently used word on the Internet, the meaning of which clearly makes the words "PWN! YouTube" a parody.

Where are all the "This doesn't belong on HN" comments? The article nothing to do with tech or startups.

Point taken. VB.NET has come a long way from Altair BASIC. Still, I'd be happy if they killed off VB so that I wouldn't have to deal with its syntax and retardations. Working in an MS environment I can only ask for so much, but at least wit

Maybe not: Visual Basic, the great-great-great grandchild of Microsoft Basic for the Altair, the company’s first product, is the oldest. /crosses fingers

Anyone know if there are other options (besides AdMob) for developers to insert these kinds of ads in their app?

It depends what stage the project you're working on is at. Adding new forms to an enterprise-level CRM might be where a lot of (boring) programming jobs are at, but it doesn't preclude creative programmers: those who create a system from sc

Is game design copyrightable? Everything I've heard about this game is that it's a clone of several others.

I don't understand the mystique surrounding C. If you forget about pointers and structs for a minute and keep everything to one .c file and one .h file, there's nothing that would keep a beginner from learning the rest. Even though you can

One of the main studies mentioned took place in Ann Arbor, population 114,024 as of the year 2000 census. Downtown is fairly urban feeling, but nothing like a Chicago or a New York. I agree, seeing studies of different cities would be inter

If there's a header file for an API, does that mean that it's public? Or does it have to be in XCode's documentation? I'm wondering specifically about AVAudioFoundation / AVAudioPlayer.

+1 for "thusly" edit: I guess I'm still getting the hang of HN etiquette. I was impressed by the clint's usage of an unusual word and got downmodded for expressing that concisely. So, next time do I use a complete sentence to express my adm

Check out Aaron Hillegass's "Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X". Not directly iPhone related, but a good start on XCode / Cocoa / obj-C.

If you can write software, then you'll make more money writing software than by doing just about anything else. As a musician who can write software, that's exactly what I'm afraid of.

The question isn't how many apps are released at what price points. The question is, does a 99c app sell twice as many copies as a $2 app, or 10x as many as a $10 app, and according to this article the answer is no.
