I use vipe frequently, to let me pipe from/into vim. This enables fun shortcuts as: xclip -o | vipe | xclip This one in particular, let's you edit your clipboard with $EDITOR.

If I'm understanding this correctly, this is the equivalent of the "taxi radio". Taxi drivers without a current ride or on a short one, can listen to it. They usually talk to a centralized office, but also amongst themselves.
