It does seem irresponsible as a father to illegally cross a country’s border with your child in-tow and enroll them in the school system knowing that you are breaking the law. IMO it is a bit more forgivable as a young individual looking fo

Not accusing you of this directly, but this sounds like trying to get people to just accept lower living standards.

There's a huge gamble with roommates that you might be stuck with someone terrible in a year (or longer) lease. Most people who can afford to live alone would prefer to have their own place. This is just a sign that people are getting

Sounds like we need a nationalized search engine company then?

Sure, just saying the optics of this is unlikely to garner much sympathy from the public. They should instead ask their bosses to cut down on H1B hiring then instead of ICE raids if ICE has nothing to do with tech.

From what I’ve seen, tech companies are very lax about visa overstays. I’ve never heard of a tech company that actually enforces visa overstays or violations. (Why would they?)

If you are calling for an indefinite pause on immigration enforcement, the optics of that are de-facto pro-immigration, e.g. who is going to enforce worker visas overstays if not ICE?

I think people would be more sympathetic to this if the tech job market wasn’t completely frozen as it is now. Hard to make the case for more immigration when so many American CS grads are struggling with unemployment. E.g. I think they sho

Most of the people today with nothing to lose are just self-medicating on weed, sports betting, Netflix, etc. I don't think there's much to be worried about.

So then people also won't be able to one-shot prompt an ad blocker on mobile either then. And mobile is where most of the ad money is.

I meant it's been true forever that people with partners generally have a financial advantage over single people. (Even if they're not in a two-income household.)

Hasn't this been true forever? Of course people who have a partner will be better off financially since they can pool incomes and split expenses.

I actually wish macOS would clone Alt-dragging from anywhere to drag and Alt-right clicking to resize from anywhere from Linux (at least GNOME and KDE Plasma have this built-in). That would certainly solve most of the complaints in the orig
