Roger that. I would still recommend Zimbra or Zarafa, as far as open source goes. Or if you can't be bothered with running your own, both products list a series of partners who do this for you.

Then why did you even comment if you are not willing to do something? Whatever you do you must pay, with time, money, your privacy or control; I see you've made your choice.

Ebiester: if you want a decent email platform with webmail, calendaring and maybe xmpp, have a look at Zimbra. It's super easy to install, all you need is a VPS with Centos 6 or Ubuntu 12.04 and a static IP address, then download and execut

This is a good opportunity for all you smart developers around here to come up with an open source self-hosted thing to replace gugl reader.

I often run stuff in ram, the improvements are dramatic. My latest deed was dumping/restoring 20GB of RRDs; doing it in tmpfs was FAST. For running programs stuff can be kept in sync with the likes of anything-sync-daemon. SQL can get trick

I (and prolly many others) would be very interested to hear about any open source technologies you are using, if at liberty to discuss. The features page is nice, but not really technical, I imagine it's addressed to "IT managers" and such

Interesting. Good luck with the service! Where can we read more about it? What technology are you using? Are you using any of the popular cloud platforms (openstack, cloudstack, opennebula etc)?

I've never visited posterous.com until today, but I fail to see why Twitter would buy it and kill it.. can't be that horrific. It's like buying a house and setting it on fire. What am I missing? Are they just killing off competition?

For me the strong point about RHEL/CentOS is the long term support (as in really long term support, 10y) and continuous back-porting of important features making it a lot less obsolete than it may appear. This is extremely important and man

They should also look at Shitbucks, amazon and so on. The UK is pretty pissed at them, too. I hope there's going to be some law to make them pay tax in the same country where they get the revenue.
