Merging works fine, as long as Git knows how to resolve the ancestry. Rebasing breaks that (save for hacks like rerere).

Merges go wrong sometimes. That's life. That mismerge would have been just as bad if they had rebased instead, except you wouldn't have had the context to go back and fix it. How would that be better?

Also, IdeaVim is just awful compared to Evil. - Tracks the mode globally (rather than per editor), and treats mode-switching as an edit operation (so if you accidentally enter a read-only tab in insert mode then you need to switch to anoth

Ultimately, jj is trying to make the "branches are a mutable series of patches" workflow easier. The problem is that that workflow is still ultimately harmful nonsense[0] that is based on a misunderstanding of version control. [0]

Higher-level languages still operate according to defined rules and logic, even if we can sometimes disagree with those rules, and it still takes time to learn the implications of those rules. AI prompts.. do not. It's fundamentally ju

Yesn't. Rust is perfectly happy to emit/use dynamic links.[0] It's just that the primary C use case (distributing and updating the main app and its libraries separately) ends up being unsafe since Rust's ABI is unstable
