One factor is your distance from the nearest weather radar, and nearest airport with automated weather observation. This sort of prediction is heavily dependent on whether the precip is detected by sensing. I've seen similar things in

If you have a team nearby, go work with a FIRST Robotics Competition team as a mentor/volunteer. Great community, you'll learn a lot, and make great connections if you want to get into this area as a career.

Let's imagine you're the pilot, and you're super busy with an emergency. You also know that there are mountains to the east of the airport. You also have ATC on the radio and they know about all of the meaningful obstacles

I paid about $250 for mine (made by Starkey), this included both 10db and 17db plugs. They work a lot better than the high fidelity earplugs I've tried off of Amazon. Starkey apparently retains a 3d scan of your ear canal and can mak

The only way I'd give one of my reports this feedback is if I'd previously heard "I'm spending all of my time helping other teams get stuff done, and it's blocking me from getting my own stuff done."

We need to give up on the idea that there exists a reliable store of value. There is no such thing.

T-bills have very short duration, so interest rate changes have smaller effect on their value. Think of the duration as a lever, the longer the lever the larger the move in value that interest rate change make.

T-bills are super liquid, have a low bid-ask spread, and are cheap to turn into cash, so there's no real need for a barter system in t-bills.

It is shockingly easy for a company to mitigate the bank failure risk. 1. Open account at Fidelity 2. Purchase brokered CDs in denominations <$250K in a ladder matching your cash flow needs (you have a cash flow spreadsheet, don't y

Startups have to do risk management all of the time -- it's a core activity of entrepreneurship. Can we trust this vendor? Is this new hire going to work out? Will this API vendor scale to what we need/be around in the future?

It should not take too long to find out roughly what the uninsured depositors will receive. The investment portfolio is straightforward to liquidate. The loan portfolio will take a bit longer to sell, but it's a well-worn process. I
