The long-overdue move away from inverse color schemes (dark text on a white background) has certainly helped.

I agree with you, but the refresh rate on E-paper is so hideous. And the panels are expensive as hell.

My "TV" is a projector, but I don't consider it practical for computer work. When 100" micro-LED panels come out, the projector is going away for good.

I got a Google Voice number with an area code that's way out in the boonies somewhere. It's super easy for me to identify spam, and to prevent it by not giving my real number to almost anyone.

Actually, the more-telling part of the number is the exchange. They'll often match yours, which is dumb as hell. In the age where most phones are mobile, this whole "scheme" is pitifully ignorant.

As I recall, I signed up for the beta, so maybe they removed this requirement after release. I deleted Brave, and I was pretty sure it was for this reason. I just re-downloaded it and installed it, and sure enough there was no log-in requir

I don't really care what they do. You can't use their browser without signing up for an account, which is absolute hypocrisy and even WORSE than regular browsers.

I think you're talking video output, not input. Yes, there are USB-based video digitizers (for ingest), but you have to be running capture software on the host device. Very different from simply having a video input going to the screen

I think it's right on the money. The Web has long sucked even for presentation, let alone for application delivery. It's not that you can't do it now; but it's still a hack upon a hack. I also don't think the longev

Same, ever since Apple FINALLY added categories. It took years and years for them to learn that this is essential. Mainly I rely on Notes because they're synced through iCloud. I can add stuff to my grocery list as I think of it throug

Have you worked on a German car? If so, you're likely tired of the "German engineering" myth. Most often, you'll find overly complicated, failure-prone designs that are worse than their simpler domestic counterparts. Thi

I'm so glad Apple finally shitcanned their inexcusable "butterfly" keyboard and embarrassing emoji bar. Jony Ive's departure was the best thing for Apple in the post-Jobs era. The guy is a pompous hack.

Mmmm, not really. First of all, they system generally DOES check to see if the account number is valid. After that, all it has to do (and generally does) is ask for another piece of correlated information.

Straight-up incompetence on the part of the systems integrator or designer. I'm so tired of this shit, especially when entry of an account number is essentially a REQUIREMENT to even get into the system.

Doesn't matter. USB-C is not a video input. And if it were, Apple would still gimp it. I'm sure developers can't access the USB port on iPad Pros, just as they can't access the shitty Lightning port on anything else.

That is right in line with the experience of a good friend of mine. He went on a Google interview, and they said he could solve a problem in the language of his choice. They gave him the assignment and left the room. Since we were at Apple

The problem is that Apple, if they ever do release such a thing, will not provide an HDMI input to make the product versatile and useful. It'll be gimped by Apple's fear of connectivity, just like all of their iOS devices.

There is already a current product that is essentially this: https://moverio.epson.com I bought a pair for experimentation as a viewfinder (about $1000). They proved the potential of that application, but suffered from some fit-

From that I would guess Google, who are known to be douchebags in the interview process and in the peer-eval process. Hell, they admitted as much a few years ago... and claimed they were going to try to be better.

How does this relate to Thunderbolt, if it does? Is it daisy-chainable? What a PITA this has become. Does USB still impose excessive processor overhead? Then there's the unavailability of any USB hub that doesn't suck donkey balls

Yep, I wouldn't expect the transition to have occurred overnight. But after several decades of experience in automotive applications, I'd think the GA fleet could have been adapted by now if the industry had taken it seriously. I

The people making these claims typically don't know anyone in GA or anything about their local airport. The taxpayers footing the bill for GA are GA USERS. GA pays way higher fuel taxes than the AIRLINES do. A large proportion (the maj
